st andrews : the home of golf
There’s a lot more to St Andrews than golf. It is also one of Scotland's friendliest and most delightful historic towns, with a famous university, set in a superb coastal location brimming with miles of golden sands, yet so convenient for Edinburgh, Dundee and indeed all Scottish major towns and cities.
Architecturally very interesting, with feature gardens, a real historic feel, and a ‘must visit’ castle and cathedral. Enjoy warm local hospitality and many hotels and superb restaurants offering delicious award winning cuisine.
In modern times the tourists come to see the magnificent legacy left by the Culdees, by the Archbishops, by the Kings and Queens and by the town planners such as Playfair.
They come to see the gracious old buildings, quadrangles and chapels of Scotland's oldest university.
And of course they also come because St Andrews is the Home of Golf with famous and challenging courses for people to play on, ranging from the celebrated Old Course to the most recent Duke's Course.
